Nurturing Nanny™

The RIE® certified Nurturing Nanny course offers in-home caregivers with knowledge and practical suggestions that can help make caregiving easier and more enjoyable.

Course Overview

This course is for people currently working as a nanny or considering becoming one, who want to learn how to provide quality care during the foundational years of birth to two, establish early relational health, and support a baby’s innate sense of competence. You will also discover how the Educaring Approach can help you gain skills that support your role in the family environment.

Course Topics

Designed to help nannies work more effectively and pleasurably with their charges, topics include:

  • Nappy changing, dressing, and feeding with respect

  • Creating safe places for play and learning

  • The caregiver’s role during play

  • Setting appropriate limits

  • Establishing a healthy sleep routine

  • Supporting secure relationships

  • Enhancing employee-employer relations

Format: Online or In-person

Frequency: 3 classes (can vary)

Duration: 4 hours per class (can vary)

Total hours: 12 hours total

Cost: $680 per participant for online courses. Prices vary for in-person courses.

  • The online format uses Zoom for live (synchronous) instruction. Online and in-person classes are interactive and full of discussion, questions, and group activities.

  • Required readings and online resources will be sent to you prior to the course starting.

    Please have a realistic baby doll with clothing and a nappy on hand, if possible.

    For online courses, you will also need access to a computer with a consistent internet connection and the Zoom application.

  • You will learn in a cohort of your peers, with time spent in large and small group discussion. Small groups are arranged so that students with similar interests are in the same groups and get to know each other over time.

    This course is intentionally kept smaller so you will have ample opportunity to come to know your fellow students as you learn together.

  • This course needs a minimum of 6 participants to take place.

    There is a maximum group size of 14.
